Shipwreck Beach - Navagio

Shipwreck is the most famous beach of Zakynthos lying on the western side of the island. It is also one of the most photographed sights in Greece. The beach was originally known as Agios Georgios, it became an impromptu ship graveyard when the smuggler ship MV Panayiotis washed up on its shores in October 1980. The best boat tours to the Shipwreck and to the amazing sea caves of the area are organised from Porto Vromi Maries which is the closest port to the beach. Alternatively, you can experience Shipwreck beach from a viewing area 200 metres above the sea surface.

Zakynthos town

Zante town or Chora is the capital of Zakynthos and the largest city on the island. While you are in Zakynthos Town don’t forget to visit Solomos and St. Marco Squares and do your souvenir shopping in Alexandrou Roma commercial street. In addition, the Strani hill, the Venetial Castle above Zakynthos town at Bochali, and the house of Ugo Foscolo are only some of the places you need to visit.
